Another Great Stay

I keep returning to the Ashtree House Hotel simply because I feel welcome and comfortable there.
The house sits on the top of the hill that is Orr Square, the house has a long history as a privately own domithecile in the past and then a hospital during the second world war and later as a maternity ward in the forties and fifties, I'm sure that any guest that is interested in the history of this fine old building the present owners will be more than willing to tell you more about its past. Excellent Place to Stay in Paisley

We had a wonderful stay at The Ashtree House Hotel. We were a group of 16 in 5 separate rooms for six nights. The accommodations were great, the staff was extraordinarily friendly, and the location in downtown Paisley was super. Since we were there for six nights with such a large group, it almost felt like we were renting a house instead of staying in a hotel. Read more

Warmest of welcomes on arrival continued friendliness & helpfulness throughout our 2 nite stay.

This was the final stop before returning to Canada. We had been exploring your beautiful country for two weeks and arrived a bit later than anticipated due to motorway delays. Hungry and fatigued, the staff promptly served us tea and sandwiches and sweets.

Beautiful quiet setting in Paisley, where I was welcomed like family returning home.

This is my second stay at Ashtree House. I returned because I find it a lovely place to both begin and end my visit to Scotland when I am flying into Glasgow Airport. Not four star

I booked my stay here as I was doing a course at the Abby and thought I'd treat myself to a bit of luxury instead of just catching a late train home. I did a search for 4 and 5 star hotels in Paisley and this one came up high on the list. I new I would be checking in later in the day so chose thinking I could eat at the hotel. After ringing the door bell twice I was met by the owner who was very pleasant and pointed out where my room was and that there was no food being served. Read more

Lovely place to stay for airport overnight -- or longer!

The Ashtree House Hotel is a handsome building in a quiet location off the high street of busy Paisley. The staff were wonderful, the room we had (room 2) was spacious and lovely (but right above the busy front door), and the breakfast superb. Paisley has clearly had hard times, but it is energetically trying to revive itself. There are stately buildings to see and good restaurants. As a gateway to the Loch Lomond area, Paisley works well, and as an airport hotel, the Ashtree House is perfect. Read more

The staff members were uniformly terrific, and they couldn't have worked harder to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

Quick stay convenient to airport

Purchased the basic advance rate as we knew we had to leave early in the morning and wouldn't arrive until late afternoon. Friendly and helpful staff make this hotel a home from home

A very comfortable stay, the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. They are passionate about their hotel and Paisley which shone through in everything they said and did. Great stay in lovely old hotel which gave it character

Great location in a charming hotel that dated back to
17rh century very quiet and peaceful with lovely rooms
And fantastic modern shower unit. We had a twin attic room

Historical guest house in a historical city

From arrival to departure we felt warmly welcomed by our host Maureen Stewart, who was not only a lovely person but did all she could to ensure we enjoyed our stay, from booking dinner reservations to a car service for the airport. She was always on hand to help us with inquiries, particularly how to get from point A to point B. And an unmbrella was always handy at the door for that occasional downpour when we had to walk to our restaurant! Our room number 1 was large and airy and comfortable. Read more

A refreshing hotel surprise.

The last night of our 10 days across Scotland was at Ashtree House Hotel. Our drivers had trouble finding the hotel as their GPS was sending us in circles in a "seemingly shut down area" of downtown Paisley. Hello, thanks for taking the time to give us a review. Paisley is in the middle of regeneration and we are on the edge of one of those areas still in the process, much like the USA out of town malls and large supermarkets have had their toll of the high street. Period house, very friendly owners, comfortable bed, lovely bathroom. What more can you ask for?

I am a lone female business traveller and therefore need somewhere I feel safe. Ashtree House certainly did that- the house itself if a lovely place built in the 1790s, very easy to get to from Paisley Gilmour Street Station (the walking directions on the hotel website are excellent). The owners were extremeley friendly throughout, suggesting a short walk I might like to do to see the town when asked and the bed and room were comfortable with a lovely view into the hotel garden (room 4) Read more

Disappointed

I was extremely disappointed that the hotel tried to send me to another hotel in the area for the night, on the grounds that they had had a lot of bookings from the University and were fully booked. I had reserved my room, and paid for it, directly with the hotel three months earlier! When I asked why they had not contacted me before I actually arrived to tell me that they had made a mistake they said they had been hoping for a cancellation. This was my 3rd stay but it may be my last! Read more

Wants a makeover

Our party of 7 ( inc. grandparents, son & partner & their children) stayed for 3 nights during our trip to meet up with family after a gap of some years. My wife & I had a "premier" double my daughter a small double & my son his partner & the 2 children occupied a family room. All the rooms had modern shower facilities, but the modernity ended there. Our bed/mattress was older than me & made more groans & grunts than I do!! The decor was "faded" the sash windows rattled & the shower "whined"!!! Read more

Faded Grandeur and Disappointing

Stayed here while in Paisley for a funeral, so was a convenient choice. On arrival we had a rather friendless reception and felt a little uncomfortable. We were not asked to sign in nor was there any safety info in our room. It was all very strange and a bit surreal. Very Pleasant Stay - would return again

We wanted a short break to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We needed somewhere with good transport connection as we did not have a car. My only problem was finding the front door!

I flew into Glasgow from London in the evening, planning a day of surveying landfill sites around the Scottish countryside the next day. I chose the Ashtree from the internet because while close to the airport, the hotels *at* the airport seemed to suffer from neds and yahoos (several reviews mentioned loud louts partying 'till all hours). We stayed at the Ashree House Hotel on our last two days of a great 2.5 week tour of Scotland. The room was spacious and traditional in design with the modern amenities. Nice mix. A friendly welcome to a well run family hotel.

A delightful place to relax at the end of vacation in preparation to return to usual routines.

From the moment I arrived it was pleasant. All staff were polite, engaging and exhibited a spirit of caring for each guest.
My room was spacious and comfortable. It offered an amazing view. The bathroom was sparkling clean with modern fixtures. I was pleased to find the windows opened to enjoy fresh air.
I enjoyed relaxed dining in the evening. The food was delicious and the presentation inviting. Maureen was delightful! She enhanced the dining experience by remembering each person. Read more

Perfect location to end a holiday to Scotland, when flying out of Glasgow.

Chose the B&B because of its reviews on Trip Advisor, to ensure that we could catch an early flight out of Glasgow airport back home to Canada the next morning. The owners were very helpful and made us feel most welcome, offering to serve us dinner when I checked in with them by phone on the day of our arrival. Large comfortable room, nice public rooms. Convenient Location for Glasgow

We very much enjoyed our visit at Ashtree House. Our room in the left Georgian townhouse was large with a high ceiling. There was a separate very good shower and a large bathtub. The room had all the expected amenities—coffee and tea making facilities, hair dryer, good bed, nice linens, etc. It also had a warm towel rack, something, as we discovered in other places, is not always turned on in June. Internet was included. Not through the fault of the owners, the reception in room 10 was wea Read more

The hotel is a small, quiet oasis in the middle of a dull urban area - perfect for the airport.

Our stay was brief, but enjoyable with outstanding service from the moment we arrived. We were disappointed that the restaurant was not open on Saturday evening for dinner, but the lady who checked us in very kindly booked us into a nearby restaurant. The room was large and full of character with a cleverly modernized bathroom. A very pleasant experience for our last night in Scotland after 30 days of touring the country. Read more

We are surprised that none of these items were mentioned during your stay. Maintenance and housekeeping items now fixed and would have been if you had said at the time. The room was not one of our premier rooms and therefore the showerrooms are smaller as determined by the fact that the building is listed. If you had seen one of our larger rooms you would know that our rooms are not basic as suggested. Breakfasts are cooked fresh to order and therefore take longer than pre-cooked food kept hot.

Arrived from Glasgow Airport at around 7.30pm - we were shown to our room. Ample space for our overnight stay, comfy double bed and shower room, with TV and blinds on windows. Had dinner in the hotel - very nice, no problem for them to cater for a non-diary diet. Food was lovely, and nice atmosphere in dining room. Owner was very pleasant and chatted to guests. One of the best Bed and Breakfast we have been in.

We were favourably surprised with the quality of the accomodation, the remoteness of the parking available (we had a lot of luggage in the car and we wanted some safe place to park overnight) and the tranquility of the area. Best hotel room i've stayed at around Glasgow

Was a little concered that this was a small hotel and i was not familiar with the area, i shouldn't have worried. The hotel was great, the rooms were stylish, modern, and smart.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, they made my stay very enjoyable. As i was staying for business they also had free WiFi in the rooms which was an additional bonus. Didn't eat there but the menu looked pretty good and will try next time.

misguided management

I have stayed at the Ashtree several times, most times being satisfactory, clean and comfortable. Occasional issues regarding hot water, shower pressure, but n the whole, convenient and pleasant. The owners are generally helpful, however occasionally demonstrate a manner that resemble my mother! Read more

Response

This requires clarification from the management as this 'group of nurses' displayed the most obnoxious behaviour and disrespect and when questioned would not shoulder responsibility for their actions, including causing damage to furniture with nail polish remover which was admitted and then denied, being drunk and loud on return to the hotel after nights out without any respect for other guests, stealing items on display in reception which have not been returned and so on. A line has to be drawn.

Comfortable & friendly accommodation in lovely old building

I stayed for 3 nights while visitng the area, having chosen Ashtree House from information on the internet. My room (room 13) was very comfortable and bright (though I noticed the room opposite had a much darker decor - not my taste), and had a pleasant outlook over the garden. Sweet B&B. Small room, but all amenities. Alas, somehow breakfast provisions did not show up. 3 of us had to get to airport Monday morning; I imagine everything showed up later. Staff very apologetic; said this 1st time this had happened in 7 years. Read more

So no local eggs/cheese/veggie sausage, no fresh croissants. Staff brought out everything they could find for us. Also, web comments said hosts offer a ride to airport, but woman looked at me

completely blankly and sent me to bus. Not sure I met Maureen and certainly Tom was not there on weekend. I am ignoring the boxes and just writing, cause not enough room here.

Great

We stayed at Ashtree house as we were going to watch St Mirren play Hamilton at St Mirren park. After a very disappointing and exhausting footy match, we found ashtree house very friendly and comfortable - also very well placed for an excellent fish n chip restaurant - Allen's on Storey Street. Good night sleep and great breakfast - also very friendly host. Read more

A good location and excellent freindly staff

Very central to Paisley although the hill to the hotel would encumber some elderly or disabled people. Freindly staff and a warm atmosphere. Read more

Great Service in a Unique Setting

This is a very well-kept Georgian house that retains its traditional features, but has a very clean, modern, well-maintained feel to it. Despite the age of the property, we did not notice any squeaky floorboards or leaks, for example. On arrival, the owner met us and recounted some of the history of the house and of Paisley itself. My wife and I had paid a little extra for a premiere double ensuite room at the front (Room 1) and were rewarded with a very good night's sleep in a kingsized bed. Read more

The owner and staff kindly allowed me to have an early sit-down breakfast in order to catch a Sunday morning flight from Glasgow (Abbotsinch) Airport, half an hour before the official opening time.

Excellent B&B, Cordial Welcome by the Owners

I am spending a lot of days in hotels all over the world and this is the first time I am taking the time to write a review, thanks to the positive experience. Ashtree House Hotel is a lovely, well-kept period building, where we felt just at home following a very cordial welcome from the owners. Excellent! Read more

Cordial welcome by the owner. Lovely, well-kept period building. Quiet location, yet close to Glasgow Int'l airport. Excellent restaurant within walking distance.

Nothing except for the fact that I had to leave for a meeting in London after staying only one day at Ashley House Hotel.

Stunning building

The hotel is stunning from the outside and the staff were really friendly, the communal areas thought welcoming and cosy felt a little dark but the room we had was gorgeous. Read more

The room was very generously proportioned and I would have loved to have a soak in the ample bathtub but didn't have time.
Dislikes?
Apart from the slightly dark communal areas, it was fanastic.

Home from Home

It is a pleasure to stay at the Ashtree House Hotel, it feels like you are a house guest rather than a hotel guest. The rooms are quiet and comfortable which is remarkable considering how close you are to the centre of Paisley. Read more

Would be useful to have a desk and chair in the room.

Small quibble. Floor or like reading lamps by couch or armchair would have been perfect instead of relying on overhead lighting.
