I booked my stay here as I was doing a course at the Abby and thought I'd treat myself to a bit of luxury instead of just catching a late train home. I did a search for 4 and 5 star hotels in Paisley and this one came up high on the list. I new I would be checking in later in the day so chose thinking I could eat at the hotel. The Ashtree House Hotel is a handsome building in a quiet location off the high street of busy Paisley. The staff were wonderful, the room we had (room 2) was spacious and lovely (but right above the busy front door), and the breakfast superb. Hello, thanks for taking the time to give us a review. Paisley is in the middle of regeneration and we are on the edge of one of those areas still in the process, much like the USA out of town malls and large supermarkets have had their toll of the high street. In our town this creates new opportunity !! watch this space. Restaurants open until an average of 10:00pm I believe you arrived late and therefore choice was limited at that time.

I flew into Glasgow from London in the evening, planning a day of surveying landfill sites around the Scottish countryside the next day. We arrived at about 7pm and hardly looked at the room before going for a meal .We had a very early start the following morning and went straight to our room after our meal. It was only then that we found......curtains partly detached from their rails, broken tiles on the bathroom floor, a shower base with mould evident, paint peeling from and around the bathroom ceiling,a t.v which emitted a strange background noise and ,the piece de resistance, a piece of material covering gashes in the armcha Read more
This room is liked by most who stay in it for its brightness, original details, outlook and good order. We accept that the bathroom requires attention to some detail and indeed is about to be remodelled along with a wider programme of works, but it is not dirty as implied.
However we are amazed by your attempt to imply that the entire hotel is run down when in fact the opposite is true. We note that you purchased our cheapest product. Also that you did not mention any of these items.

Location convenient to Glasgow. Hotel is impressive on arrival. Lounge and dining room nicely decorated. Lovely dinner and breakfast. Room very mixed - nice size but in need of maintenance - peeling paint, grubby marks on doors and walls. Bathroom looks modern but not all tiles grouted, hand towels frayed, No wardrobe - bed comfy one side, worn out the other. Almost a work in progress, and some work done on the cheap? Has potential to be superb but lots of £'s to refurb these buildings. Read more

Hello, we are sorry and understand your frustration however you were contacted the moment we knew and you confirmed this back to us by e-mail after we gave you several alternatives for the night.
We have an old historic property here and sometimes simple tasks turn out to be major repairs in order to preserve the fabric of the building.
We stayed at the Ashree House Hotel on our last two days of a great 2.5 week tour of Scotland. The room was spacious and traditional in design with the modern amenities. Nice mix. It was a good place to finish our holiday. We needed a cab at 4:30 am to catch our flight home, and so our hostess made arrangements for the cab to call HER when it was on the way. She, in turn, called our room to let us know. She was willing to wake up in the middle of the night to help us. Now that's service. Read more

Ellen, lovely to meet you and thanks for your comments. We very much enjoyed our visit at Ashtree House. Our room in the left Georgian townhouse was large with a high ceiling. There was a separate very good shower and a large bathtub. The room had all the expected amenities—coffee and tea making facilities, hair dryer, good bed, nice linens, etc. It also had a warm towel rack, something, as we discovered in other places, is not always turned on in June. Internet was included. Not through the fault of the owners, the reception in room 10 was wea Read more

We are surprised that none of these items were mentioned during your stay. Maintenance and housekeeping items now fixed and would have been if you had said at the time. If you had seen one of our larger rooms you would know that our rooms are not basic as suggested. Breakfasts are cooked fresh to order and therefore take longer than pre-cooked food kept hot.

This requires clarification from the management as this 'group of nurses' displayed the most obnoxious behaviour and disrespect and when questioned would not shoulder responsibility for their actions, including causing damage to furniture with nail polish remover which was admitted and then denied, being drunk and loud on return to the hotel after nights out without any respect for other guests, stealing items on display in reception which have not been returned and so on. A line has to be drawn.
Welcoming staff. Luxurious rooms with plenty of space. Easy access to all amenities and plenty of parking. Excellent service and a lovely breakfast. Read more

I stayed for 3 nights while visitng the area, having chosen Ashtree House from information on the internet. My room (room 13) was very comfortable and bright (though I noticed the room opposite had a much darker decor - not my taste), and had a pleasant outlook over the garden. I only had one evening meal there, and enjoyed the food, but service was slow (and there was a very noisy party at the next table which made it anything but relaxing). Generally enjoyed my stay & found the staff friendly. Read more

We came to Paisley for a family wedding in a nearby village. Paisley is badly in need of regeneration and new industry, but the Ashtree Hotel provides such a warm welcome I would thoroughly recommend it as an excellent, quiet, place to stay. The staff could not do enough for us, our bed was very comfortable, lots of hot water and delicious breakfast with ingredients sourced locally where possible. Read more

Part of the Charm is that we are not road frontage. Also we do supply a map downloadable on the website which confirms the way in. However we are working on additional signage with the Local Government to try and help those lost guests here !.
My husband and I came to Scotland so he could "visit his ancestors", as well as tour around. We stayed in 4 B&Bs and the Ashtree was the nicest facility, nicest accomodations, food and staff. We would heartily recommend the Ash Tree Hotel to anyone heading your way. Read more

Ashtree House is in the perfect location for my purposes on this trip. Inside and out, it is beautiful. The only slightly negative comment that I have relates to the small wash hand basin in my room. With the large central tap, it made it quite difficult to shave properly.
The staff are very efficient and as friendly as you'll meet anywhere in the world.
Breakfast was superb on both mornings I was there. High quality food, cooked to perfection and arriving on my table piping hot. Read more

This is a beautiful, family-run hotel, with wonderful accommodation, personal service and attention. The restaurant 'Reubens' serves delicious 5-star meals at reasonable prices. Its close proximity to Glasgow City and Glasgow Airport makes it well worth a visit. I would highly recommend this hotel. Read more
The building is itself beautiful, and the original features inside have been sympathetically retained. The rooms are very tasteful, comfortable and quite well equipped, and the wi-fi works well (not the case in so many hotels). The remarkably quiet - and convenient - location assures a relaxing stay. The restaurant within the hotel, Raeburns, is properly 'fine dining', and not too expensive. Read more
The Ashtree House location is absolutely convenient in means of getting around and perfect for managing out getting the simple wants and needs. Gorgeous structure, and a warmth was illuminated throughout. It felt like a home away from home, in more or less words. The Paisley Rail is a five minute walk, Gilmour Street Station is a five minute walk, everything has spectacular location, and architecture surrounding. I would book again, and again, and again! The hotel is centrally located in Paisley , a 10 minute walk from the railway station through the town centre. The approach in Orr Square is however quite steep which may be a consideration for older persons.
The management and staff were always friendly and attentive and made us feel at home. The hotel is tidily kept but is an old building and keeping it warm in colder spells must be a problem.Local taxis are readily available and also prompt , important for travel arrangements if flying etc. Read more

We stayed at Ashtree house as we were going to watch St Mirren play Hamilton at St Mirren park. This is a very well-kept Georgian house that retains its traditional features, but has a very clean, modern, well-maintained feel to it. Despite the age of the property, we did not notice any squeaky floorboards or leaks, for example. On arrival, the owner met us and recounted some of the history of the house and of Paisley itself. My wife and I had paid a little extra for a premiere double ensuite room at the front (Room 1) and were rewarded with a very good night's sleep in a kingsized bed. Read more
